The Grosse Pointe Red Barons are a community-based youth football program that promotes the physical, mental and social development of children from 6-13 years old by providing instruction in football and cheerleading.
Beginning with flag, and three levels of tackle football, the Red Barons are perfectly equipped to instruct young football players and cheerleaders from the very outset of their playing and cheering days up to high school football and cheerleading. With a team of coaches boasting decades of football success, and with an absolute premium on player safety, we will build the skills, fundamentals, and mental approach to ensure the utmost preparedness as our players and cheerleaders enter High School.
Registration for the 2021 season opens March 15th. Players and cheerleaders registered between March 15 - May 15 will receive a personalized lawn sign. Lawn signs will be placed in front yards by June 15th. Regular registration ends on June 15, 2021- players and cheerleaders must register by this date in order to get personalized game jerseys or cheer warm ups. This date cannot be flexible due to the lead time required when ordering the items. Late registration ends on July 15, 2021 - players and cheerleaders registered between June 16 - July 15, 2021 will receive the same jerseys and warm ups, but without the personalization. All players and cheerleaders will keep their jerseys and warm ups.
Football jersey fitting dates will be posted soon - stay tuned.
The football equipment pick up date will be shared as soon as we have confirmed the details. All paperwork is due at this time, and is required in order for players to receive equipment. Athletes will receive an email containing links to all required paperwork.
Practices will be held on the Brownell Middle School field on Chalfonte. Some cheer practices may be held at indoor locations throughout the season. Ironman attendance will begin the first full week of practice. Pre-Season Tackle practices will typically run Monday – Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00. Once the season begins, practices will run Tuesday – Friday and the hours will gradually reduce as the days grow shorter. The Flag practice schedule will be a less-frequent version of our Tackle schedule, with 4 practices per week. We will have a banquet at the end of our 2021.
A complete 2021 game schedule should be available mid summer - once the league releases this it will be posted on our website and an email will go out to alert you. Keep an eye out for our volunteer schedule around that time as well, which will allow you to sign up for volunteer shifts at one of our home games.
Once our registration has closed, each athlete will receive an email with the schedule and a confirmed practice schedule. Each team will also have a parent meeting, typically during the first week of practice. Parent meetings are scheduled individually by the coaches, but will be posted on our website as well.
